[Resolved] 500 Server Error with Akismet

We’re having an issue where Akismet appears to be causing a 500 Server error. The only time we experience this error is when the plugin is uploaded. If we delete the Akismet plugin directory, everything works.

    Any thoughts?

Note – the domain in the error message below is edited out. I’m not sure what kind of security risk is presented by displaying that full path.

    Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.***.com/blog/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s=. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I deleted the entire plugin folder and started loading things back in one at a time. Running with fewer plugins, Akismet included, and things look okay for the moment.
