# 500 Internal Server Error – Woocommerce

 * When I install and activate Woocommerce it produces a 500 internal server error.
   I have tried deactivating all other plugins and using the 2017 WordPress theme
   but it still gives the error.
 * I have also tried uploading Woocommerce by FTP but doesn’t make a difference.
   The only way to handle the error is to delete woocommerce and then I have access
   to the site again.
 * I also tried changing PHP to 7. WordPress install is the latest version.
 * In the server log files it says:
 * End of script output before headers: index.php
 * Any ideas? I’ve never encountered this problem installing Woocommerce on other
   sites.

 * Googling that error a bit, it seems to be related to directory permissions. I’m
   basing that on the following:

 * That said, I recommend getting in touch with your hosting provider – they’ll 
   be able to dig into that further 🙂
