# 500 Internal Server Error

 * as we install the site ground optimizer plugin the site is showing this error.
 * **Internal Server Error**
 * The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to
   complete your request.
 * Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@localhost to inform them
   of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this
   error.
 * More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
 * Please provide any solution. Am new to word press and this plugin.

 * I checked the site, and any request to it, even the favicon, returns 500 ISE:

   try enabling the WordPress debug functionality as explained here:
 * [https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/](https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/)
 * and provide us with the content of the **debug.log** located in the wp-content
   folder.
 * Alternatively, please check if there are **php_errorlog** files under the home
   folder of your WordPress site and look for any fatal errors recorded.

 * Hi,
 * Thank You for your response. I tried this but still same so i tried changing .
   htaccess file. Now its working fine. But i have deactivated siteground optimizer.
 * Should i re activated again to check?

 * The reported “500 Internal Server Error” could have been indeed a result of a
   misconfigured .htaccess file. You can enable SiteGround Optimizer again and see
   if the site is now working as expected. Should you encounter any errors, please
   enable the WordPress debug functionality as instructed previously by Pavel and
   provide us with the content of the error log files so we can check for any relevant
   records.
