    Hi folks,

Was just wondering about 2 points concerning the wordpress.com stats plugin.

How long is the delay before the same visitor is counted twice in the “views per day”? I believe it is less than 24 hours but I can’t find the exact number.

Second question, which is more of a problem :
I noticed that the “clicks” statistics are completely wrong, as they rarely (very rarely) count clicks on pictures and entries in general.
Let’s say, for example, that I have an entry with 500 views per day, and inside is a picture that users are bound to click on & download, since this is the very purpose of the entry.
I’m not getting a single click report on that picture in the statistics, even though I know users download it. I noticed the same problem on blogs hosted on wordpress.com. Did they change something in the way statistics are handled? I remember it was properly counted some time ago.

I’m using the Monochrome theme by mono-lab (which has a wp_footer call).

Any help would be appreciated, thanks !

  • Hi, Zanes,

The WordPress.com Stats plugin does not have any concept of visitors. The word “visitors” is intentionally avoided in favor of “views”. You could have one person load the page 500 times or 500 different people load the page once; either way, the number of “views” is 500.

The clicks counted by WordPress.com Stats are supposed to be clicks away from your site, not clicks among your own URLs. That should explain why your own images don’t show up in the click stats.

Oh, many thanks for your answer andy.
Seemed that I misunderstood how the plugin works.

    Thanks again 😉
