    I just noticed something today.
I tend to edit comments in order to reply to them. That means I write the answer in the same field they did.

Now WordPress thinks I am that user (which is ok for me). But somehow they get “promoted” to Members during that event.

I noticed that because I have the wp-useronline plugin installed and as soon as I edit a comment like that I see myself with the name of the person as a member.

Why is that? I don’t even have feature for others to register as members enabled.

Sounds more like a bug to me?

  • That’s a weird way to “reply” to comments – by editing them. Try not to, and see if the “bug” is still there.

hmm..maybe it is – I didn’t find another solution to answer to comments so far.

Besides – why would wordpress add me as a member. The question remains – wether my way of answering is stupid or not.

Can’t follow your explanation. I edit comments all the time and have never experienced anything like you describe.

Tascha, unless “threaded” is the sort of thing you’re after, why not just answer the comment by commenting normally yourself?

Thanks for all the answers. I was actually after the threaded and paged feature. I found the plugins I need but to be honest – adjusting the comment.php to fit my theme like it is now is a bit too complicated for me.

It’s not much code but it’s hard to understand logically without a profound php knowledge.
