• How do you change the email for the Scheduled Backup section on the bottom? It automatically sends it to the E-mail address in General Settings and I can’t get it to change.

    Thanks so much!

Is anyone familiar with this? Help! I’ve been using it for years but not sure what’s happening.

    Thanks!

@sculley: Good luck. I’ve been using WordPress Database Backup plugin for quite some time — 2 years+?

It works sporadically. Sometimes it sends the backup to the e-mail address you specified. Sometimes it dumps it to your wp-content directory on your server. Check to see if there’s a directory in your wp-content directory (on your server) named “backup-nnnn” where “nnnn” is a number. Your backups may be there. I download mine to my pc and delete them from the server. But I’m not comfortable leaving backups on the server.

When I choose the radio button (in WP Admin) to send the backup to e-mail, it doesn’t “take.” The button clears by itself. Later on, sometimes I start getting the backups in my e-mail.

It’s very flaky that way. I’m now using WP-DB Manager in addition to Database Backup. We’ll see which one does the best job, and then the other is getting deleted.

We can’t complain too much about free plugins, can we? But we can certainly share our experiences. I wish you the best.

I so appreciate your reply! Wasn’t sure if it was just me. I’ve used it on at least 5 other blogs and it seems to work successfully. Glad for the heads up!

You’re welcome. Do you have any idea what causes the thing to hang like that? Does yours e-mail your backups to you?

Have you used any of the other backup plugins successfully? I don’t like wondering whether it worked today…! Thx.

I have no idea. Someone on another forum said to go into the db and change the email there.

I may have used one other backup but not sure. Someone also told me that they use the paid plugin called Backup Buddy which works beautifully for him.

Thanks for the tip about Backup Buddy – it may be worth the price. I’m tired of “free but buggy.” You get what you pay for! This may save me a lot of time and worry.

I’m thinking about it too :-).
