trouble with comments feature

    When I first started my blog I would get email when I received a comment asking me to approve it or not- now I am no longer getting emails about comments

    How can I fix this

    • Is this true for all comments, even from new commentors?
    • Or is this just true for people who have previously had their comments approved?
    • Have you recently installed and/or uninstalled any plugins?
    • Did you change you email address and not tell WP? (It happens.)
    • Did anything else happen between the time when you did get notification and now?

    many thanks for your response- it is happening for new commentators- they happen to be bad spammy ones (with websites that they obviously are hopping I will approve so they can have a link)but I am not even getting notified that they need my approval or not- and I have updated the plugin itself but that is all- and I have not changed my email- maybe i don’t get a notification if the comments are obviously bad? (though in the actual comments feature on my blog I was asked to approve them or not)

    The only thing that comes to mind is that if you go to Settings >> Discussion Part way down the page is a field labeled Comment Moderation. You can set a number of links that, if the post has greater-than-or-equal to this number, it will force moderation. 2 is suggested, but if you’re having problems you might want to set it to 1.

    You may also want to check out the Akismet plugin (supplied but not activated with the current WordPress install) which is specifically designed for dealing with comment spam. It’s not free, but then neither is your time. BTW, I have no connection with Akismet or Automatic, Inc., the developer and creators of WordPress.
