WordPress Loading Delay Waiting For Initial Server Response

    Hello,

    I am doing wordpress optimization and I noticed that on a brand new installation of wordpress without changing any that there is a delay of 500ms -> 1.5s waiting for receipt of the very first wordpress page. On other websites and pages on this web host not using wordpress, I see 28ms response times. I think something is really wrong, and this makes my website seem not very responsive, which is a real problem. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue? Maybe something server side or something that can be set in apache?

    On a side note I noticed that utilizing an HTTP compression plug in on another wordpress site of mine slowed down the initial time for the server to respond significantly with data before the page even started loading.

    have you discussed the issue with your webserver?

    Yes, I did. They said it was probably their servers, but I was wondering if anyone else had any knowledge about the cause the resources taking forever to start loading. When I load a php info page from the same server the loading time is 20ms before the resources start downloading. On my wordpress site, it is taking forever, even with all plug ins disabled for most of the resources to start receiving, and that is the main bottleneck on my whole site. Any comments, thoughts, or anyone else out there experienced this same problem before?

    I have same problem.. with 45 seconds!!

    Do you found any solution?

    I’m having the same problem as well. Firebug says that the server is “waiting” for 30 seconds to a minute or more then the pages loads in about 1.5 seconds.

    Any ideas?

    may be you want to consider using some cache plugins.
