    Hi,

I have recently built a new business website for my business using wordpress and now want to set it up so that the domain of our business points to the server address that the wordpress install is residing on.

Since the orginal business website for our business was build by web dev business they are still acting as the dns and will remain hosting our email.

When i emailed the business they said that it was fine but they needed the server ip address to make the alterations to the dns records.

How do i find out the ip address of the server?

    Hi thanks for your help,

I have checked all through my server control panel(cpanel) with no luck.

I followed your advance and have sent off an email to my host (crazy domains) but experience tells me that they will not reply or will take there time.

Do you or anybody happen to know an alternative?

    Thanks in advance.

Try this in command in console window( cmd.exe on windows )
    ping www.yourdomain.com
You’ll get something like Pinging www.yourdomain.com [IP address]

    Hi all,

Using cmd.exe to ping the websites domain gives me the ip address 27.54.85.129. This in turn gives me “the default Web Site Page” and not the WordPress install/actual website.

Using the cmd.exe to ping the server was the first way i went about finding the ip address. But it does not return the actual WordPress install/site which leaves me stumped. I tried pinging the wordpress install/sub domain (www.tasmaniancomputerstoresguide.com.au/testsite2) but that yields an error in the cmd window.

Any ideas would be muchly appreciated

I just thought i would post my ‘solution’ to this problem.

I ended up moving the wordpress install out of its sub domian and placing it on the main directory.
