• I am quite new to WP and I really need some help getting started.

In phpmyadmin on my server I am not able to do what the installation guide tells me about privileges. It says: “No privileges”

But I made a database, i created a user with dba-access to it and i uploaded the files to my ftp, edited the wp-config.php with my own info and so on.

When i try to install it says it needs wp-config.php and there’s a lot of strange symbols (i access the install.php directly from the ftp because i can’t access the files from a web browser). So the installation guide mentions that it could be a php-issue on my server, but my provider tells me everything should be working fine.

So my question is, do I need to change something in phpmyadmin with tables, my database or anything?

I know I’m a little short on info here but if anyone has a good idea of what I’m talking about please let me know.

    ANY suggestions are apreciated!

    (Sorry for the poor english..)

If you cannot do that, then you cannot see the blog anyway.

Can you get a better host ?

    What is ‘dba-access’ ?

Well i upload the files to the root of my website via ftp. But if i try to access the same files using http://… it says it can’t be found on the server. The files are there tho’.

dba-access is just all rights available.

I just registered my domain, and I would rather want to stick with this host. I think it might be me who’s the problem and not my host. 😀

If you have just registered the domain, and the DNS is propagating, you could wait ~24 hours and then try ?

No.. I’ve had the domain for some days now. That’s not it.

“upload the files to the root of my website “

Okay – have you uploaded them outside of the web directory ?

    Look for
    public_html
    mainwebsite_html
    http_docs
    www

Your files go inside one of those, not next to them.
    is that the problem ?

Hmm i guess that could be the problem. Haven’t thought about it before.

If there are no such dirs, can I just make one myself and use that as ‘root’?

Okay I wasn’t as dumb as I thought..

The ‘localhost’ thing in the wp-config.php had to be changed to something else.

    Thanks for the help anyway!
