Support » Fixing WordPress » Where is my Plugin option in the dashboard?

  • Hiya, it seems that I have no plugin option in my dashboard to automaticaly upload plugins. How do I get this, is it a paid extra or something?

  • On the left-hand side of the dashboard you see the “Appearance” category, with Themes, Widgets, Menus, and Editor directly beneath it, what follows them?

I only have themes,Widgets, Menus,Extras, Background,Header, Typekit Fronts, & Edit CSS… I have seen videos of other people with the Plugin, but mine doesn’t seem to be there.

Those are subcategories under “Appearance”. Does your dashboard look like this?

Are you saying that you have Appearance, Users, Tools, and Settings, but not the Plugins?

Yep mine looks exactly like that, but Users goes directly below Appearance, no plugins option :/

I also don’t have that “Updates” option below Dahboard…with the number 2 next to it.

Did you have them when you did the first install, prior to installing your plugins/theme? Are you still running your theme? If so, switch it back to Twenty Ten 1.1.

No, I never had them. I only just set up my hosting with godaddy today. Then went to install plugins and yeah, there is no option. How do I switch it back to twenty ten 1.1? I am not sure what you mean sorry.

If you look at that screenshot I linked to, “Typekit Fronts” and “Edit CSS” are not sub-sections under “Appearance”. You have something that is not standard installed…

As for switching the theme, just click on “Themes” under “Appearance” and select and apply the theme that says “Twenty Ten 1.1 by the WordPress Team” – this is the standard one.

One more question… did you do the install of WordPress or was it taken care of by GoDaddy?

Oh,I seem to have 2 Applications installed –

    Installed Applications
    WordPress 3.0.1
Creating Database on whosaguru.com (View and manage details)
    URL: WHOSAGURU.COM/wordpress

    WordPress 3.0.1
Successfully Installed on whosaguru.com (View and manage details)
    URL: WHOSAGURU.COM/

Is wordpress 3.0.1 the latest version?

To have applications you’d had to have had access to the plugins. Yes, 3.0.1 is the latest.

I have no idea. I only started today… perhaps I should hire a techie that knows more than me lol.

I assume you are using wordpress.com blog? if yes, you don’t have a “plugins” tab.
