Extracting the first link in a post

I want to be able to take the first (and only, as it happens) link in a post and use it on the homepage. To explain, I’m building a site for a school and they will have a post where they can upload the coming weeks [cafeteria] menu. I want to be able to provide a link from the homepage directly to the menu (i.e. not to the post first).
