• Hi folks,

Here’s my problem. I run a blog which has 2 different channels that are 2 separate WP installations in sub-directories. The main site is a WP installation too. Now, I have put the same Google Analytics tracking code on all of them. So I can definitely see the overall traffic, and traffic to the sub-directory URLs by using filters and all.

But, if I want to see comprehensive data for each of those sites, it isn’t easy. I am talking about the kind of data I get for the main site…keywords, location…everything.

So I thought may be using different analytics code is a way out, but then someone suggested that I could add new profiles for the same site in Google Analytics. Which means the same code would work, and I could see comprehensive data for the channels separately.

I did what he said. Added new profiles for the channels. Code was already there on the sites, so I waited for it to start tracking.

After 3 days, what I find is that those profiles are only tracking the traffic to the main channel URL. That means, if the site is xyz.com and a channel is xyz.com/abc, I see the data only for xyz.com/abc and not xyz.com/abc/article/. I think analytics is only considering the code on the main WP installation and not the codes installed on the other WP installations in this case.

So, my question is, what did I do wrong, or how to go about tracking multiple WP installations in sub-directories effectively through Google Analytics? Anyone have had any experience with this? Please suggest.
