have you tried:
-deactivating all plugins. If the problem goes away, activate them individually to find the culprit?
If you don’t have access to to your admin area, try deactivating them manually via FTP or phpMyAdmin.
-switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue?
If you don’t have access to your admin area, then access your server via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
-if that does not resolve the issue, try increasing memory available for php.

I have tried all of these things. Even went to the extent of moving to a new server. It has been a gradual thing. Week by week it seems to get slower and slower.

Have you tried:
– repairing your database?
– using a caching plugin?

I did repair database when I switched servers.
I think cashing would only help the front end. The admin area is what’s slow and that does not make since.

I know currently you are using WP3.0.1. Did you upgrade this from previous version?
If yes, did you follow the WordPress upgrade exactly.
