I’ve been using WordPress multisite on DreamHosts’ VPS package, and all has been working remarkably well.

However, I’ve run into a problem with the WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin: http://bit.ly/WPMSDomainMapping

I am trying to map http://sub.domain.org/ to http://newdomain.org/

When I amend the DNS A record of newdomain.org to point at the IP address (as detailed in the plugin instructions) I just get a bad_httpd_conf error (http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Bad_httpd_conf).

DreamHost support have told me that this is because there are multiple sites installed at the VPS unique IP address. But how else is the WPMU Domain Mapping plugin _supposed_ to work?!

I have started to mess with the apache config file though at the moment I’m just getting directory listings 🙁

Has anyone managed to get WordPress MS domain mapping cracked with DreamHost VPS? Would love to hear a solution!

    tia, Jake
