most such things work as client-side code/script (i.e., runs on your xmms box), that when a new song loads it then does a particular update to the site. CG-WhatTunes, for instance, works with iTunes and WinAmp, accepting certain styles of HTTP-POSTing the song data to a php script on the server, and another piece which takes care of displaying the info.
so, if you find something that can HTTP-POST song data to sites/blogs, there’s probably a bunch of plugins that have the potential to solve the rest of the problem. 😉 😉

I found a script for xmms in combination with a plugin and it works!
