I’ve set ‘Enable HTTP (gzip) compression’ everywhere in the Browser Cache page, but my CSS and JS files are not getting gzipped. At least not according to Google Page Speed, YSlow or pingdom.com.

The compatibility test says ‘mod_deflate / mod_gzip: Not installed’

Could that be an explanation? I’m not sure why it says that because both my theme (Frugal) or the WP Super Cache plugin can gzip successfully.

W3 Total Cache gives me great results, but without gzip the other benefits are worthless.

Note : Those CSS and JS pages that don’t get gzipped are also listed in my Minify ‘file management’ sections.
