  • I guess this forum is where this would go…
I just read Matt’s new documentation on Different Directories and was curious: would this work the same way if I wanted to move my WP installation to a /wordpress directory from the root?

Randy, it would work almost exactly the same way, except you’d be changing the WordPress address instead of the site address. You’d still need to update the includes and the rewrite rules.

I’ve got the latest nightly as of 4/28/04 and I couldn’t get the different directories to work. My current blog is in my root directory. I want all my WP files to be a /wp/ directory. I changed the setting in Options. Moved all the files, except the “templates” and I changed those to include /wp/wp-blog-header.php instead of the default.
wp-blog-header was still looking for files (wp-config.php and wp-settings.php) in the root directory. Have I missed something?

Ok, got it working. I think it just took a minute for all my caches to refresh or something.

Just followed the instructions for different directories and came up with some unusal behaviour:
I’ve installed wordpress in its own subdirectory (i.e.):
    http://www.website.com/wordpress
But would like to have my blog in a different subdirectory (i.e.):
    http://www.website.com/newdir
I’ve copied over the index.php and made the path change to the require — but the moment I edit the BLOG URI in the site admin OPTIONS to http://www.website.com/newdir, I cannot log out. I clear out my cache and cookies and try to enter the site admin and i cannot log in.
No error messages are displayed, I simply remain on the login page.
I had to go into the database and edit the BLOG URI back to http://www.website.com/wordpress before I could log back in.
    Any ideas?
