Redirection Plug In by Johnny5
-
I have a redirect problem as more specifically described below. I am not getting much help from my host, who says it is a wordpress issue. Google suggested I try this plug in. I just want to be clear that it will resolve this specific issue. Here goes:
As I understand it, Google doesn’t want to index both
http://www.vetyourlawyer.com and
vetyourlawyer.comTherefore, all requests for
http://www.vetyourlawyer.com/* SHOULD redirect to
vetyourlawyer.com/*But that is not what is happening
All requests for any page starting with www
go to the home page, and NOT the corresponding vetyourlawyer.com page WITHOUT the www.http://www.vetyourlawyer.com/sitemap.xml
does not redirect to
http://vetyourlawyer.com/sitemap.xmlinstead, it redirects to
http://vetyourlawyer.com (that is to say, the home page).Same with
http://vetyourlawyer.com/services/
http://www.vetyourlawyer.com/services/ redirects to the main page, NOT
http://vetyourlawyer.com/services/The guy that wrote my sitemap says I probably have some .htaccess rule redirecting every URL with www in front to the main page.
However, when I look at my .htaccess file, I see no reference to ‘www’ anywhere, so I have no clue what I should change.
I just want a solution and not blame. Will this plug in fix this problem or not? Thank you.
