• I have updated three different web sites now from WP 4.5 to WP 4.6. directly from the Update Now button on the dashboard.

Upgrade appears to install correctly, but instead of getting the final “Pepper” page, I’m getting an error message like the following:

Firefox can’t find the file at http://www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/update-core.php?action=do-core-upgrade.

Fortunately, when I back out of that screen to the Dashboard, WP 4.6 DOES appear to be installed and running correctly. Or is it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Just to be sure, try:
    – switching to the default 2016 theme.

    – deactivating all plugins.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php
