• I can not seem to get widgets to show up in the Twenty Ten footer. I drag the widgets to the proper areas, set them up and save them – yet they do not show on any page.

Do I have to “enable” them somewhere in the theme?

    Thank you!

Yes – I did drag widgets to the correct areas and saved them – but they do not show on any pages.

That’s why I was wondering if they had to be “enabled” somewhere – though I thought I read they were enabled by default.

    yes.

if you have plugins imstalled, may be one of them is causing the glitch. You may try deactivating plugins to see if the problem goes away. and then activate them one-by-one to find out the trouble-maker.

Ok – great idea – hadn’t thought of that.

I went through all “activated” plugins to no avail – that is not the problem either.

Grrr… I must have modified something in the theme to cause this – I’ll have to test the NON-modified theme to see if that is the case.

    Thanks!

Yes, that would be the next step to rule out any issue related to your modifications

    I have the same issue.

All I want to do is add footer navigation, (repeat of menu or custom, either is fine).

Nothing I try will make any of those 4 footer widgets to show up. Must be broken theme, or not compatible with WordPress 3.0.3

What is the problem with SIMPLE STUFF like having footer navigation on a WordPress site. Textual footer navigation is one of THE essential website must haves!
