Support » Fixing WordPress » Logging in to Dummy site

  • I’ve created a second version of wordpress on my site so that I can make changes to the CSS privately. [speakspeak.org/dummy]

I set the dummy directory up using the same database that my live site uses.

When I attempt to log in to the dummy site in order to switch themes, the log-in page redirects me to my real, actual, live site [http://www.speakspeak.org/speak-blog/wp-admin/].

Typing “http://www.speakspeak.org/DUMMY/wp-admin/” also redirects me to the live site.

How do I log in to my dummy site so I can switch themes? Do I need to set it up using a different database from what the live site uses?

  • I’d suggest either to set up a different database for the “dummy” site (since ALL the settings – including the URI of your blog – are stored in the DB) or, using XAMPP for example, set up a local WP install for experimenting.

Thanks, moshu. I’ll try setting up a second one.

I had problems with xampp. I’m sure they were MY mistakes, but I couldn’t get it to work.
