• I’m testing W3TC and am confused by the wording here. Wouldn’t it be better to just have “[x] enable all caching functionality” – and uncheck it to disable the cache ? Seems a more standard way of doing things. i.e checked = enabled.

One other problem being that in my setup the checkbox is unchecked but pages are still being cached in memcache ?

    Thanks for any help.

  • same issue took me 3 hrs to see that even though the thing is uncheck which by what it says means that the w3 total cache is disabled it was still enabled anyways…. doesnt make any sense at all

The plugin is touted as being used by all the great sites in the world, but this setting has stumped me. It doesn’t make sense to me. Like the OP, I believe that a check box should be used to Enable something, not a double negative. The Enable button up there seems to enable Preview mode. Selecting that box also selects CDN, which throws up an error, since the field isn’t populated – I don’t use a CDN.

Yes, this is super confusing. Aside from being convoluted wording, it would seem to mean that deselecting this box leaves your site without caching functionality.

Since I want caching, I select the checkbox under general.

When I select it, CDN also becomes selected, but I do not use CDN so I get a notice to set up CDN.

Deselecting CDN deselects the “General” checkbox, which seemingly means “all caching functionality” is disabled. AHHHHHHH!

Does anyone connected with the plugin read these threads?

I am having the same issue. There seems to be no way to keep the “Deselect this option to disable all caching functionality.” box CHECKED (and thus, the plugin enabled) without having the CDN stuff activated. For sites not using a CDN, that would seem to indicate that the plugin cannot be used.

While I totally agree every serious site should be using CDN, the plugin should still be usable without CDN.

Sorry for the trouble, this is fixed in recent releases.
