Not known way to turn magic_quotes_gpc off – Zina abandoned

magic_quotes_gpc is required to be turned off. I’ve tried editing the htaccess, that doesn’t work. After more than a week of searching for an answer I’ve given up. Zina may be promising, and looked ideal for what I wanted to do but a week is a long time looking for something that says “here’s how you turn off magic_quotes_gpc…”, so I’ve had to abandon Zina.
