Hey there guys, basically what is going on is I have created a number of child pages under a certain page, the child pages should have the same template as the parent page, as the template is selected when creating the pages.

This works when my permalinks are default, but when I change my permalinks to /%category%/%postname%/ the child pages display a completely different template, as if the index.php is being called or something? How do I get them to display the intended template, but also have pretty urls?

In my MAMP version this works perfectly fine, and I have put the standard MOD rewrite rules in the .htacess file on the server to allow for this permalink structure, so what am I doing wrong?

I don’t understand why there are no responses, surely someone knows what’s going wrong, is there a .htaccess rule I’m going wrong with or a conditional tag of childpages I’m missing?

Ok stil stuck with this, it’s working at http://www.tamarakretzer.com and it works with normal permalinks, but soon as you change the permalinks to /%category%/%postname%/ the children pages screw up and won’t display the template that I assign to them when creating the page. I can’t work out which template it is reverting to either so it’s impossible to edit that template.

Is there anyone who knows anything about how to get to the source of this please? It’s driving me nuts.

Still bashing my head against a desk, no where on the web seems to have the same problem as me? Is there no easy solution for this, am I going to have to delete everything and reinstall? Surely there’s a better solution no?

*Bump SO these forums are dead huh….

I’m having the same (or a very similar) problem. Sorry to see that no one has commented. I’m assuming you haven’t found a fix? In my case, the child pages’ permalinks bring up a tag archive page showing the child pages’ excerpts. The permalink structure of /parentpage/childpage works fine on the live site I’m working to replace, but in my WAMPserver testing environment (with the same WP configuration, as far as I can tell), I get the tag archive instead of the child page.

`yeah it sucks no one has replied, I gave up so it still remains with shitty permalinks, if you find an answer please post back, as will I.
