• This is probably simple I’m sure, or maybe way off base.

Using a modified “classic” theme, pretty much only modifications are
    sidebars though..

    Posting:

is there somwhere within the editor, or a plugin I can activate that would allow a new user to “Post” something? like a new topic?
instead of me(admin) posting something and having users comment on it.

I’ve been through the dashboard several times, changing 1 thing at a time to see if this is possible, but can’t seem to find anything of the sort.

Only type of example I can give is, let’s say it’s a sports site…
2 teams play thier game one night
someone comes and signs up to site
user A posts something like, I hate the ref he made a bad call
then others can comment on that
User B posts something like, Did you see the coach grab that player,
then others post comment on that.

The way it seems now, is “I” or an “admin” has to post something along those lines, and then allow users to comment on it.
If there are a lot of sites, that are somewhat related with sports, then that’s a lot of post’s, some making sense and some not.

Just want to be able to allow users to post thier own observations, and allow others to argue/agree/disagree with them.

Almost like this forum, people post things, and others answer it.

Maybe I have to install a “forum” plugin?

Thanks, if you need any more info, or if you want to help one on one, then shoot me an email at username <at> g mail dot com

    Appreciate the input
    D 🙂

  • You can allow anyone to register to your blog and automatically give him/her an author role.

By having author role, your user can submit content to your blog, but it still requires administrator or editor to publish it.

If you prefer to have a forum plugin that integrates with WordPress, try bbPress. Read my posting here about WordPress and bbPress integration.

    Thanks…

I went through all those in the dropdown box, editor/admin/author

    additional query.
if author is selected, then does the checkbox “have” to be checked in
An administrator must always approve the comment and will that comment box appear to someone not already logged in (like admin)
what happens if that’s left blank?

Remember this is a customized “classic” wordpress theme, the customization is more directed at the sidebars and size, but the page should have remained the same…there’s no blogroll, links, categories, login links/widgets present.
and if I don’t have a “login” link/button/area, and want that submission area to be on the home page, where exactly could they post a new thought?
because I don’t see any “submit comment” dialogue of any sort..

Still trying to wrap my head around “posts” and “pages”
I’ve viewed numerous video help for this, but seems I need
to somehow edit the “home” page, in order to include a “submit post”
box and email so that anyone can go to the URL, post a rant or a rave about whatever team the site happens to be about.

Really appreciate the help here, you guys are always on top of things.

If someone wants to email me direct, and have a look at what I’m talking about I’m more than happy to supply the URL, sometimes it’s easier to see what one means, instead of trying to sift through info.
