4.4 Version not adding to Mailchimp, not redirecting to thank you page

Yet again this version of the formerly great mailchimp widget is a fail. Form does not add subscriber to Mailchimp database and fails to redirect to designated thank you page. I had to revert to mailchimp’s own embed code, which works perfectly. What happened to this used-to-be bullet-proof widget?
