I have to ask, why? Why use flash?
Well, I suppose it depends a lot on how the servers are set up and what technology is available. Interaction through RSS/XML or the XML-RPC APIs might be the easiest way to go.
Thanks for the posts. Why use Flash?—because key features of the interface are drag and drop and a kind of 2D 3D, allowing users to zoom in and out of content and interface elements.
I’m also concerned to incorporate a standards-based approach as far as possible, possibly generating html alternative pages and utilising the new accessibility features in the latest Flash Player.
Actually, if you’re interested, why not take a look at our demo for a children’s network project based on the same concepts.

Zooming can be done with CTRL+mouse scroll. Not sure about the others. Though I do have to ask this: if you’re going to generate alternative html pages, why Flash?

I have to ask, Do you have $12k per server processor for Flex?
Second of all, No, you can’t run PHP under J2ee. It is, in no way, compatible.
Third, Flex is a joke, don’t spend your time trying to learn it. You can do everything you want (and I know, because I’ve written blogging software in flash) with simple flash/phpamf/wordpress.
