images aren't resizing
-
hi all. i’m hoping someone could help me with an automatic image resizing issue i’m having. all images involved are embedded from sites like Wikipedia.
on one post, all images resize correctly:
http://ronnyis.com/?p=238 (be careful, ~10 high-res photos)
but on another, no images resize:
any ideas?
-
but on the second page i pasted, the code for the very first image is
<img class="alignright" title="Fused corolla" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c6/2007_brugmansia_aurea.jpg" alt="" width="376" height="250" />
and yet clearly the image is not resized, no?
edit: actually, i realized that the image is indeed resized, just not to my specifications. it’s resized to the width of the column (i think). still, it’s not doing what it should be, and the pictures further down (which are not as wide as the column) further demonstrate this.
Do you know how to resize embedded images in WordPress admin Panel. There you may have set the minimum width and height of the embedded images.
you mean in the actual Post editor?
otherwise i have no idea what you’re referring to.
No. 1) Open your WP admin Panel, 2) Click Settings which is at the bottom of the left sidebar. 3) Click 'Media' to edit the media settings. There you can view the embedded image resizing option. Hope this helped you!
oh, thanks.
can you see what’s wrong with these settings?
I think you must type the width of your content box in the box next to the Large size. (for eg : make it 500px and 500px.)
i’m not seeing any difference.
any other suggestions?
(thank you so much for responding, by the way.)
Your welcome. I have no other suggestion!
oh.
can anybody else help me out?
Dear, surely you will get answer when some Moderaters (experts) will be online and help you.
i wasn’t sure if anyone would still see this thread hours later, though.
bump?
found the culprit using Firebug. in style.css, under Images:
#content img {
margin: 0;
height: auto;
max-width: 640px;
width: auto;
}changed the “auto” to anything else and it fixes.
That worked for me to on http://www.ictforlearning.org.uk/italy/
so, is this a bug? Why didn’t I have to alter this for my other wp installations?
Ed.
I’ve made the changes to the stylesheet, but now I note that if I update the site, the changes are lost. So, I’ve been trying to build a child theme, using http://trishussey.com/2010/05/21/its-easy-to-make-child-themes-with-twenty-ten-download-my-first-wordpress-theme/ as a basis.
I’ve tried adding the code
#content img {
margin: 0;
height: ;
max-width: 640px;
width: ;
}to the stylesheet of this child theme, but it has no effect – I know that I’m probably doing something extraordinarily stupid, but after extensive searching I’ve realised I don’t have the skills to work out what the thing is that I’m doing (or not doing).
Can anyone help?!
Ed.
