• When my WordPress site loads, instead of a static index page the remains the same all the time, i get the latest posts on the site. How can i create a static page that is displayed when the website is launched? Thanks.

Yes, conspiri, i have found a thread at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/25613 but i don’t understant the bit about PermaLinks!?!

As I posted in the other thread, too: use the home.php template and forget the rewrite rules… (It is always helpful to also read the links in a post!)

Thanks very much, moshu. Do you mean just overwrite the index.php page with the home.php page? I’m sorry, i’m not really following you. I’d really appreciate a bit more information.

Do you know the static front page plugin ? Could be what you are looking for.

Tom, you don’t need to overwrite your index.php. You save your index.php as home.php and edit it as you like.
When you have a home.php template in your theme (because we are talking here about the theme’s index, not the “short and sweet” index.php file in the root of the WP installation!) – WP will show home.php when visitors go to your blog’s address. No need for any plugin…
    See Template_Hierarchy in the Codex.

Thanks, moshu, i understand now that we are dealing in the Themes Directory, not the install directory. Thanks again.
