  • After i upgrade from 2.9 to 3.0 i returned to the dashboard however it’s showing as a regular users dashboard, i cant see themes or any settings, etc… ive made sure its still admin account that hasnt lost privileges by changing the line in the mysql db… on the actual site the sidebar says logged in site admin… ive tried re uploading the files thinking something was missing… ive disabled all plugins, i have no clue what to do, anyone?

  • Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    Yes, ive re-uploaded the complete wordpress package from wordpress, first time it was automatic upgrade, ive renamed the wp-content and or plugins/themes folders each separately and it didnt change anything…

    It sounds like your account may have lost admin privileges for some reason.

    Access your database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), go to the wp_users table and find the row for your user_login . Note the ID of this row. Now, go to the wp_usermeta table and find the wp_capabilities row for your user_id . Set the value of this row to a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}
