• Hello,

    Here is my blog:

    http://meeble.com

I have recently updated to 3.0 and changed themes. I was running 2.7.1 for more than a year, so I’m sure it was victim to some minor hack.

I have installed the Antivirus, WP Security and WP Malwatch plugins – none of them show anything weird in my system. Nothing odd is happening EXCEPT when you search for meeble.com on Google. The search results always show the site’s title as “Vicodin Online – Buy vicodin online”. If you look at the cached version of the page, it still looks like my old 2.71 instal with the old theme.

How do I fix this, any ideas?

    Regards,
    Devin

  • Check your wp_options table for strange entries of obfuscated code.

You should also completely reinstall everything from scratch. That is the only way you can assure the backdoors have been removed.

nothing looks weird in my wp_options table. Is there any way to reinstall everything from scratch without losing all of my posts/comments/settings?

It’s possible your site has been hacked by one of the recent attacks on Media Temple and Rackspace hosted sites (possibly other hosts, too).

Check your users – is there an extra administrator there? The one on my site was “JohnnyA”. Intermittently, malicious code has been appearing on my site, so I’m finally breaking down and doing a fresh installation of WordPress.

I recommend reading this thread for more info, just in case this happened to you, too:

Make sure to also check all of your theme files. There are hacks that add a ton of links in a file like footer.php or home.php that will only show the links to the search engine bots.

If you haven’t already make check your Google Webmaster Account or set one up and see what they are reporting. Also use their tool to view the site as the Google Bot does, to see if anything looks different.
