[Plugin: Fast and Secure Contact Form] Automatic Upgrade Not Working

    I’m trying to update the plugin to the latest version using the automatic update in wordpress. It simply gets to downloading update and then just freezes.

    I’m aware that I can download manually and update that way, however last time I did this, all of my forms disappeared from the options page… although they could still be called if I didn’t play with any of the options. For more info on this, I have 5 forms and when I upgraded manually, the options page told me I had 4 forms and everything was set to defaults on each form. My site still worked with the correct forms, however I couldn’t edit them without entering all the details again (big pain).

    Is there a way to upgrade manually, but preserve the settings of the forms and have them load correctly in the options menu – which happens perfectly when I do the auto-upgrades normally.

    I don’t know why you are having these problems.

    I upgrade manually every time I work on a new version. I just FTP the new files and replace the old ones. The only time you should actually lose the settings is when yo click ‘deactivate’ AND then also click ‘uninstall’. The ‘uninstall’ part will delete the options (forms) from the database.

    Thanks for your reply Mike, I’ll backup and do it manually – I’ll report back soon!

    Works beautifully! Not sure what happened last time, maybe I uninstalled it first…
