• I had WordPress working in a subdirectory with a customized template to match my existing site, but I’m not a programmer, so the custom result was not good.

Long story short: trying to get the default “Twenty ten” template working again, I think I erred by deleting (not uninstalling) WordPress.

I installed WordPress in a higher level directory at http://www.hickoryneck.org/blog, but my posts don’t show. All I get is a “Not found” page.

Please advise. This is way beyond my skill level.

  • Re-install WP in the sub-folder and then follow the instructions on this page.

Won’t the instructions on this page cause WordPress to overwrite my existing site?

I assumed you were trying to get WP to run your root domain. If that’s not the case, just re-upload WordPress to the original sub-folder.

Oh, thank you, thank you. I re-uploaded WordPress to the subdirectory, edited the wp-config.php file, and this time remembered to run the install script. In my frustration last night I forgot that all-important last step. Thanks for getting me back on track!

OH NO! I spoke too soon. The sample post supplied by WordPress displayed, so I thought all was well. But as soon as I created my own post, I got th error page.

What could be causing new posts not to display?

    try changing permalinks?
