 * The upgrade to 4.1.1 is causing issues on my site. I keep getting a notice that
an upgrade was unsuccessful so try again. I go to upgrade and nothing is there.
All my plugins, themes etc. say everything is fine. All I know is that everything
worked before the upgrade. Perhaps the upgrade needs an upgrade???

 * It sounds like the upgrade may not have completed successfully.
 * Try [downloading WordPress](https://wordpress.org/download/) again and delete
then replace your copies of everything **except** the `wp-config.php` file and
the `/wp-content/` directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively
replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some
uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete
the original files before replacing them.

 * Ok…so now I have this extra work to do when it was working fine before the update?

Can I just hit the “reinstall” button? It has taken me 1 month to get to this
point. I’m not a computer wizard, so any chance of losing my site is not happening.
Is there not another way? There is nothing in updates that says I have to update….
so I don’t really understand why I’m getting the message anyway.

 * there unfortunately aren’t many options if it’s stuck in a half upgrade. the
manual upgrade james references is your best bet.
 * do you have any backups of the files & database? you would need both to restore
   properly
 * you could always try posting something on the jobs page if you really dont want
   to deal with it

 * You won’t need to restore if you manually finish the update.
 * If you follow the guide as directed, it will only take a few minutes, and you
   won’t lose any content.

 * Don’t worry, it’s a very simple process, the guide is just extremely detailed.
