[Plugin: Profile Pic] Upload controls outside of admin template

I am hoping to create my own manage user profile page and would like to have the upload options appear on this page outside of the admin area. Can this plug-in be adapted to do that? I have a lot to learn but I am hoping that the profilepic_gui_upload function can be attached to a different action?
