import/export problem: xml file invalid

    I have a blog using wp through my website http://www.junemoris.com
    The blog url is http://www.music.junemoris.com

    Hostmysite will discontiue the use of wp and blogs need to be migrated to somewhere else so I started an account on wp.com, exported my blog but the xml file is found to be invalid on importing it into my new account here. WHy is that? DO I need to use wordpress.org instead?

    Anyone?
