• Hi – I have a taxonomy called ‘featured’. Terms are :

    1) featured-article
    2) featured-deal

I use the gdTT widget to call the taxonomy ‘featured’ and it shows Ok in the sidebar as
    Featured Article (3)
    Featured Deal (5)

When I click on featured article it is OK – it goes to an archive page (archive.php) showing excerpts of posts with this term.

But for Featured Deal, I get a 404 Page Not Found error. I think this is somehow because I have created a new Custom Post Type called ‘Deals’ and all the featured deals have been created using this post type. Have you had this problem before? Pls advise. Thanks

  • There are several problems I run into with names used for taxonomies and post types when WP can’t make a proper routing for the URL, and makes invalid request matching. As far as I know there is and there will be no way around it, so you need to be careful when naming post types and taxonomies to avoid potential naming problems.

Also check if you maybe have a page with name featured-deals or something like that, because it can take precedent during rewrite matching.
