The plugin deletes logs slowly so as to not negatively impact your site, and it does so using WP Cron. It is possible the logs are being deleted slowly, or that you have disabled WP Cron.

Thanks for the reply. It’s actually happened on multiple sites of mine that have been using the plugin for years.

Actually… I discovered the issue on one site after we got hacked and I couldn’t recover the website because the when the recover tried to reload the database, it timed out. Turned out there were over 700k 404 lines. Once I manually (via text editor) deleted all the 404 lines from the mysql backup, I was able to restore by uploading the backup file.

The major issue was a 404 for “/apple-touch-icon.png” (I think). That line was there about 300k times.

The 404’s are just tracking/logging, correct? I can safely delete them all and monitor going forward, correct?

Also, is WP Chron a part of the theme? How do I know if its disabled?

    Yes

is WP Cron a part of the theme

It’s part of WordPress. It is unlikely to be disabled unless you go out of your way to do so.
