# 404.php not loading

 * I can’t ever get a 404.php file to load. Not in 2.6.2 or in 2.7(hemmorhage) either.
   Tried on a couple server setups, all vanilla LAMP. Not for my own theme, not 
   for the default theme. I just get basic text-only server 404 Not Found error 
   pages.
 * Thoughts?

 * oh yeah, forgot to add, it’s not working with both pretty permalinks enabled 
   and with default permalinks

 * You May check the index.php file,if there’s the 404 codes,sometimes the codes
   in the index.php file will load first but not the 404.php file.

 * thanks, but the index.php file is not loading either. it is just spitting out
   a generic server 404 error.

 * This is the message I receive:
 * The requested URL /2009/end-time-daniels-messages/ was not found on this server.
 * Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument
   to handle the request.
