# 404 template not working

 * I have several wp sites now, all with my own custom themes. I’ve never had a 
   problem with 404 templates. I make them and they work. But on this site, which
   has ongoing issues with the server, the 404.php template doesn’t come up if you
   type an incorrect url into the browser. [http://www.wildwoodmusic.com](http://www.wildwoodmusic.com)
 * I’m probably missing something stupid but the template is called 404.php; it’s
   very simple, it’s in the content/theme folder where it belongs, it shows up in
   the admin Appearance editor…
 * Can anyone help?

 * On my sites I have 404.html and 403.html. If you have a missing page I think 
   the server looks for an html file not a php file.
