404 Problems Trying To Update 4.2 to 4.3 (2 sites)

    Hi

    I have several different WP sites (on different servers).

    Two of my sites are telling me that I need to update from 4.2.4 to 4.3 (4.3-en GB), but when I click on the “update” button, it pauses, then gives a 404 error.

    I am able to update plugins OK for those sites, but not the WordPress Core.

    The URL shown on the error 404 screen at time of failure is http://[mysite].com/wp-admin/update-core.php?action=do-core-upgrade

    The sites still work OK after the failure, so it is obviously not getting very far into the update.

    Help appreciated.

    Alternately, try MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.
