# 404 Post Type URL

 * Hello everybody,
 * I am getting a strange error in /sitemap.xml for post type sitemap.
 * My website permalinks are set to /%postname%/, however in the sitemap one of 
   the URLs contain year – /sitemap-posttype-post.2018.xml
    This is giving 404 error
   in Google Webmaster Tools. It is strange that when I type /sitemap-posttype-post.
   xml, the sitemap seems to be working correctly. Can you assist me to sort this
   issue?

 * It seams that Hostgator has trouble with this year in the URL. Or maybe it’s 
   the two dots. Not sure. Could you ask them?
 * To get around the issue, go to Settings > XML Sitemap and change the option “
   Split by” to “None”. As long as you don’t have thousands of posts, this should
   not be a problem. But if you plan to post many many posts per year, then it might
   become more difficult later.
