I’ve tested it with several themes and it works fine. Probably the problem is caused by the Theme you’re using. Please try to switch to Twenty Nineteen and check if it works. If so, let me know, which Theme you are using. Maybe I can fix it.
If it does not work with Twenty Nineteen Theme please follow this checklist https://wordpress.org/support/topic/please-read-this-before-posting-a-new-topic

Hi, same thing here, Custom 404 page appears as ‘Untitled”
Theme is Wellexpo

Great plugin btw!
Hi there!
I also have the same issue – the 404 page title was working fine and then one day it started to show “Untitled”
I’m using Bridge theme.

Anyone has resolved this issue ? I have the same… “Untitled” using Genesis framework with Genesis Sample.
I’ve now digged into it and I have absolutely no idea how this could happen. Can you please post a link to your website?
Regards,
Peter
OK, I see, my mistake.
I thought you meant the title displayed on the page – the heading. It’s the title tag. The title tag is either handled by your theme or by WordPress itself. It is not touched by my plugin.
So if it changed this is caused by an update of your theme or WP core. My plugin never ever changed the title.
But that gives me the idea of adding this as an option in a future version. This will only work if the title is handled by WordPress. If your theme handles the title tag, unfortunately it’s not possible to change this behavior.

Peter
