A couple of weeks ago all of our recurring events links started giving 404 errors. The fix was to install the patch (The Events Calendar – Workaround for 404’s after migration. Reference ECP-1398) and then do the permalink flush.

It happened again today. This time I only had to do the permalink flush, but WTH? Do I have to babysit every update to be sure it doesn’t break all the links?? I kept the patch installed and activated, does it need to be removed?

It’s marked as fixed on https://theeventscalendar.com/known-issues/#dl_ECP-1398 but it is NOT fixed.

Pro user here, if it matters. Pro version 6.0.3 and regular plugin version is 6.0.4

    Thank you for reaching out.
Yikes! That’s definitely not what we were hoping for. Apologies.

In order to fix that properly, I do have a couple of questions.

Just to confirm, you said that flushing the permalinks completely fixed the issue on your end, right?

Can you also tell me if:

    1. This happened as a result of an auto-update or a manual one?
    2. There is any form of caching active on your site?

@tfrank77 if you could also answer those questions, that would be super helpful.

    Many thanks,
    Geoff

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick response.

I will try to answer all your questions.

// permalinks completely fixed the issue
    Yes

// result of an auto-update or a manual one?
it was a remote update through WP-CLI (Plesk system)

// any form of caching active?
    No

    I hope it helps.

Yes flushing alone fixed it this time, though the patch is still installed and active.

-automatic, which I have disabled now
-Wp-optimize installed to manually clean tables etc but page caching is not active and has not been.

Hi @ohliza, with WP-Optimize, it would be good if you could also the setup here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/wp-optimize/.

This is to make sure that it is optimized and set up correctly.

Please let me know how it goes.

Hi @tfrank77, could you try flushing permalinks right after updating the plugin? https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/fixing-http-404-errors/#flush-permalinks

Hi @tfrank77, could you try flushing permalinks right after updating the plugin?

// permalinks completely fixed the issue
    Yes

So, do I have to do this after every update?

No thanks on the support ticket, I’ll start one if it happens again.
