Hi, after I ftp the 2 files over to the new hosting site, I cannot run the installer.php file on a sub directory.
    Here is what I did:

    http://mydomain.com/subfolder/install.php

That’s when I received the 404 error. The two files are in this subfolder but I cannot run the installer file. However, if I move those two files over to the /public_html folder, it worked.

Why choose a subfolder? Well, if I were to install onto the main /public_html folder, WordPress will install onto this folder. I want to separate my WP installations.

Found what the problem was. My subfolder name is case sensitive.
Anyways, I got installer.php to run but now I’m getting 403 forbidden error.

You’ll need to make sure your Apache Server is configured currently for those directories and files. Here is a good resource.
