    Hi, I just checked my 404 Monitor log and noticed that there are a ton of errors related to the wp-content/cache/ where the WP Rocket plugin stores all the cached files as far as I understand.

    I don’t know exactly why those errors happen, but it seems that they happen when the user re-visits my site and the computer is trying to retrieve those cached files but they don’t exist cause’ WP Rocket seems to change the name of those files, which looks something like this ad1bbbe02498e1a41838450fa316c75f.js

    Are those errors something I should worry about and look into, and why are those old names of cached files are looked for rather than the current ones?

    Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for not following up quickly and any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    We are more responsive over emails, our support forums, and the Facebook group.

    You can ignore those errors. In the Rank Math plugin, an error is logged in the 404 Monitor when the HTTP response code is 410 or 451 or when is_404() returns true.

    With that said, you should switch to the normal 404 Monitor and should use the advanced version only when you are not able to find the root cause of a 404 error to save space in your DB.

    Hi @rankmath,

    Thanks for getting back to me. I switched my site to the Simple mode for 404 Monitor, but I’m still seeing those cache-related errors as well as picture-related (I use WP Retina 2x for retina images). I check the URL of the images in the Monitor 404 log and they seem to load just fine.

    Hello @lucasw89

    An entry will get logged in the 404 monitor when http_response_code() is 410 or 451, or if is_404() condition returns true.

    It doesn’t matter if you enable Simple or Advanced mode, someone (could be a bot) is trying to access those links on your site.

    Maybe you could check the server logs and determine that.

    Okay, I check my server log and found some of those errors there. Doesn’t really tell me much since those look similar to what I see in the Monitor 404 log.

    The only thing I’ve noticed is that in Rank Math there are occasionally apple-touch-icon.png and apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png showing up in the log, BUT I have created redirections for them to the right URL, yet they still show up in the log. Does it mean that the log also displays URL with 301 redirects?

    The errors look like this:
