404 Errors and Missing Images
-
I’ve received word from Google that searches are turning up too many 404 errors on http://denacrain.com/ and http://dencrain.com/blog/. I checked that out via Tools – Redirection – 404s and discovered 761 earlier and now 789! 404 errors! The more I try to find out what’s going on, the more errors appear! Only 85 of the errors are for images involved in NextGen Galleries.
Most of the errors are images. I’m working with a post, http://www.denacrain.com/blog/q8-quilting-teaching-in-kuwait/, that will quickly show you what’s happening. When I click to edit the post, the pictures are visible as thumbnails in the Visual editor. When I check the Text editor, I find this shortcode [gallery link="file" orderby="rand"] .
However, when I click in the Visual editor to edit that gallery, all the pictures are missing. I searched for one of them directly in Media Library, and it’s not there! Yet, if you right click on the image title, the picture shows up, so it clearly IS in the Media Library. If I click on the title by Mac touchpad, the screen goes black with a little X in the upper left corner and a comment block at the bottom. I’m totally confused about what could possibly be going on here!
I deactivated all the plugins, cleared the cache on my browser and reloaded Q8 Quilting—no change. I reset the NextGen gallery settings–no change. I deactivated and reactivated Carousel on JetPack–no change. I checked Settings – Media but could see nothing there that would cause this problem.
Please, can you offer any help?
