404 Error when previewing/publishing posts

    Just started happening today; when I create a post, hitting Preview or Publish takes me to a 404 page. Same if I click on the draft of the post to go back and edit it.

    I’ve disabled all plugins and cleared the cache.

    It happens regardless of what is contained in the post. I’ve tried with images only, text only, and blank.

    That’s very strange. It sounds like perhaps an issue with htaccess/permalinks. Try going to “Settings” –> “Permalinks” and simply resave the page to reset them and see if that helps.

    Unfortunately, that didn’t do it.

    I also just noticed that I’m unable to edit any of my past posts. I’m always taken to 404.

    Same with trying to edit pages.

    OK, so I found an answer elsewhere. I downloaded a fresh install of WordPress and, via ftp, replaced everything except wp-config.php and the folder/contents of wp-content. Back up and running.
