404 error – .htaccess file

    Hi,

    My problem started a few weeks ago. All my webpages, except my home page, give a 404 error.

    I called my host and the said its my .htaccess file.

    I tried first settings/permalinks : save but had no success

    I logged in my FTP and noticed my .htaccess file is over a 1,000,000 bytes (not sure if that’s normal, my site is not that huge)

    When I delete the .htaccess file and wordpress generates a new one, it works again. (size is the 319). But shortly after it happens again.

    any advice?
